  • How does a Billit license work and how is your document usage calculated?
    Down

A Billit license* can be paid monthly, quarterly or annually. The chosen billing period determines how many documents you can process in total during that period.

    How does usage work?
The number of documents you can process is calculated based on the full duration of your license. If you pay quarterly or annually, your monthly usage may vary, as long as your total usage stays within the allowed limit.

    Example for annual payment
Suppose you have a license for 25 documents per month, with a duration of one year. Your total yearly allowance is then 300 documents. If you process 60 documents in four busy months (240 total) and only 5 documents in each of the remaining eight months (40 total), you end up with 280 documents—still under your yearly limit.

    Example for quarterly payment
You have a license for 500 documents per month, billed quarterly. This means you can process up to 1500 documents per quarter. If you process 450 documents in month one, 550 in month two, and 700 in month three, your total is 1600 documents. This exceeds the allowed limit of 1500 and is therefore outside your license.

What happens if you exceed the limit?
If you process more documents than your license allows, you’ll receive a notification in the platform. If you do not upgrade to a higher plan, the extra usage will be invoiced after your current billing period. This is based on the document creation date and charged at a rate depending on your license. For a small overage, this is often cheaper than switching to a more expensive plan.
